Is it better to try to achieve a goal that seems extremely hard than to give up on it and wonder what would have happened later in life?

For more context I am 20 years old and want to start boxing and hopefully make a career out of it, it is obviously considered very late to start ( I’m not a heavyweight which are where most the successful late bloomers have started). I sometimes tell myself that it is a very hard goal that may not happen, but at the same time I also tell myself that if I don’t even try I’ll wonder what I could have been. I know you gotta be real with yourself, but when you have difficult goals you might have to be kinda delusional as well too if you wanna make it far. Any advice tho?
