I still have retained primary teeth (51 and 53), and CBCT showed:
vertically impacted maxillary right central incisor (11)
horizontally impacted maxillary right canine (13)
associated dentigerous cyst around 11
labial cortical plate perforation related to 13
close proximity between impacted teeth and adjacent roots
My orthodontist’s plan is:
Start braces first to create/alignment space
Surgical exposure after around 2–3 months
Orthodontic traction afterward
I wanted to ask:
Is braces-before-surgery standard sequencing for cases like this?
Does anything in the CBCT/report look especially concerning?
Is prognosis for bringing both teeth into the arch generally reasonable at age 18?
Any important questions I should ask before starting treatment?
I’m also considering getting a second opinion from PGI Chandigarh.
