This happened a few days ago, I’m a door dasher myself. So I was picking up an order from a Taco Bell, and I could already tell it was backed up the lobby and the drive thru were loaded. This long hair dude comes in and he starts complaining about an order that already went through 8 different dashers. This girl tells him that this is the first time they’ve gotten the order. He tells me that they prioritize the drive thru and don’t do the DoorDash orders until the drive thru is gone. I don’t know if that’s true, because I did see DoorDash orders being done, but they did take a while as mine took like 20 minutes to complete while I was there. Another customer comes in, not a dasher I believe and asks about her order. The same girl cant find the order but has one under the male version of the name, and asks if that’s the correct order. The customer proceeded to be upset about this, I believe because she’s a visibly trans woman. Now I can understand how she could potentially see this as being transphobic, but being in the food industry there have been times that someone misspells names or puts the opposite gender version. The long hair guy and the customer start conversating about how bad the employees are for not having their orders ready, and specifically about the girl being rude or something. The girl comes over and starts trying to explain herself, and she seems irritated. This is when chaos ensues, and they just all start yelling at each other. Eventually the employees stop talking and make their orders, but the long hair guy and the customer keep nagging them, especially the girl that was irritated. The customer yelled so loud I flinched, at the girl saying “you don’t have to get mad at us for getting mad at you, you’re only gonna make things worse!”As if that’s supposed to help the situation. They eventually got their orders and left, and then I saw the girl crying as she went to the bathroom. I understand not getting your order on time is frustrating, but assuming the fault is on the employees and yelling at them when they aren’t being malicious is not it. They made the poor girl cry and ganged up on her. She looked young too, could be her first job. I wanted to say something to her but I just didn’t know what, just a bad situation overall.
