Worked Remotely from BKK- 20 Days
I worked remotely from Bangkok for 20 days Here’s my experience & tips:
• Prefer Don Mueang over Suvarnabhumi airport: smaller, less crowded, immigration done in 15 mins. 2 lounge available; carry priority pass.
• Stayed in a studio apartment (kitchen + laundry) in a society with gym, pool, co-working space. Area- Sukhamvit 71.
• Rented a scooty for the full trip. Indians technically need an IDP (via e-Parivahan site), but no one checked in Bangkok (more common in Phuket/Krabi). Paid 1500 per week rate.
• Pattaya is 2 hours from Bangkok, cheaper than Bangkok. Sea-facing rooms are 💯 worth it.
• Thailand has become more expensive. What was 200 baht earlier is now 350+ (noticed across my last 3 trips).
• Platinum Mall shopping tip: inflated pricing + fake discounts. Negotiation is tougher now.
• Charles & Keith is cheaper here vs India.
• VAT refund tip: Ask for VAT form at the store. Get it stamped before security on airport. Collect refund after security at VAT counter. Not applicable at local shops / Platinum / MBK
• Don’t miss:
- Jodd Fairs Night Market! Great vibe, great food, less chaotic than the popular ones.
- Art gallery lanes in Chatuchak weekend market.
• Best massage: C Care franchise. They know their shit.
• Thai people being rude to Indians?
\- Our society’s vending machine never worked with cash. The guard would always offer to pay online and take cash from me.
- A store worker once offered me a sanitary pad when I didn’t realize I’d gotten my period. Small things, but very thoughtful.
• Bangchok fuel stations had long queues for refill (cue- Iran conflict). Grab and bolt made delivery expensive.
💯 would do it again!
