Hello po!

I am a prospective transferee (currently a 24 year old manager for a family business) looking to join the BS Industrial Engineering program via UOx of Mapúa. I’ve already submitted my Letter of Intent and I am mentally preparing myself for the legendary Mapúa pace.

To give a bit of a context, I am shifting from Civil Engineering to Industrial Engineering. It was a late realization for me that CE wasn't the right fit, and I’ve found that the systems oriented and management side of IE aligns much better with my strengths and my current role in our business.

Since I am coming from a different institution and will be balancing my studies with work, I would like to humbly ask for your honest insights on a few things:

  1. Current Pacing: How does currently the 10 week cycle feel in a fully asynchronous (UOx) setup? Is it "self paced" in a way that allows for a busy work schedule, or is the weekly load still quite heavy?
  2. IE Workload: For those in Industrial Engineering specifically, how are the "major" subjects and labs handled online? Are the requirements manageable if I dedicate my evenings and weekends?
  3. Self-Study Reality: Since there are no live classes, how do you deal with difficult technical subjects? Are the recorded modules and resources enough to pass the exams?
  4. Any Tips for a Transferee? What is the one thing you wish you knew before starting UOx?

I am fully committed to the rigor of Mapúa, but I want to set my expectations properly so I can manage the family business and my studies effectively.

Thank you very much in advance for your time and help. I really appreciate any advice you guys can give.
