So obviously EV are currently much cheaper to charge than ICE are to fuel. However, eventually as most cars become EV then fuel duty will need to be replaced. Presumably with a per mile charge as has already been introduced by EV. I haven't run the numbers but I'm assuming the per mile charge would need to increase from its current rate. Whilst I assume electricity will still be cheaper than petrol/diesel how long do people think it will be before EV might not necessarily be cheaper to run than ICE currently are? I'm thinking it can't be until after the ban on sales of new ICE vehicles or people won't switch but could it be sooner than that? Do you think they will always be cheaper to run than ICE? I know servicing/ running costs are also touted as cheaper but I'm sceptical about whether dealers will just increase their servicing charges to compensate.
