Final year BDS student here, Today was our first day of joining back after a mere three day break from our university exams, we have only 50 working days left but are expected to pay a full years tuition fees plus some miscellaneous (wasn’t a very small amount). A circular was released on 29th april amidst our university exams that if we failed to pay the tuition fees by 4th may then we wouldn’t be allowed back to class. Today that happened, many of us coming from far away districts came back to class today hoping some sort of consideration would be given since barely a weeks notice was given about the fees. Current problems we’re facing-
Students on education loan need more time for results to be declared in order to avail the next installment
Students whose parents are living abroad and having difficulty paying due to ongoing regional conflict making international transfers complicated
Marking us absent would be fine under normal circumstances but this is our last few months hence, one absent will bring down our attendance percentage by a lot(if we fail to get 80%, we won’t be allowed to write exams)
We were not allowed to talk to higher authorities, instead we were told that due to an ongoing case with the college, they had made this new rule
With all the existing problems surrounding private dental colleges and their management, i’m starting to question the legality of the situation, is there any way to make it easy for us, we’re already struggling with the lack of time and excessive quota completion and me writing this in itself a big risk to my future
Enforcing this rule is not only affecting students but also patient care and work load on our seniors and juniors.
