I NEED to confederate morathi to win the crone hellebron game, the issue is i cant figure out how. I've drawn her into every single war on the map with every single major faction that i'm not allied with (dont want to tank my reliability) and she just wont lower her confederation penalty below 25. Normally i'd just let her die off while trying to 1v10 the ordertide as i defend my borders and watch her shrivel, but i need Ulthuan for the victory condition- and she owns practically all of Ulthuan. Ordertide is going to take out ulthuan first before it threatens her key settlements and she starts becoming weak enough for me to slurp her up, but if I do that then I have to sally out of norsca to fight the ordertide on ulthuan, when i don't think i'm strong enough to beat strength ranks 1-4 + 7-9, i could if i cheese really heavily but that'd take dozens of turns and god knows how many hours and i really dont want to do that. I need Ulthuan and i need Morathi, also i just like confederations

What do?

How DO you use a shades doomstack? are they even a thing? is it some secret stealth cheese? am i wrong?

Hello there! Im playing a dark elf campaign and i just can't figure out the best way to use a FULL shade doomstack. I'm aware "theyre meant to be stealthy support archers that you have flank and pick at things from the sidelines" but i remember seeing a video from i think Legend of someone using one and he mentioned it was an actual like, thing. Might've not been Legend thinking of it, could've been a throway line in a GBOG video for all i can remember

So to break up the dark elven monotomy of full darkshard stack spam that just checkerboards for every battle I decided "hey shades are great units and i vaguely remmeber talk about a full shade doomstack so might as well try it"!

Doesn't work, dies to cav. Just has to checkerboard and become a worse darkshard stack.

This might be a TTWH2 thing or some weird multiplayer gimmick tbf, but if it isn't- is there some secret research or word of power i'm not seeing that makes it useful (aside from Vanquisher ofc)? Or like a Shades-Gorduz? A world event? A playstyle im not seeing? some cheese that an all stalking army can do?

I do have a bad habit of underutulising stealth cheese (and stealth in general tbf, i can never get it to be useful). So any of THAT even in general would be nice to know. The only stealth cheese i actually do know is the siege one

Just watched The Thing for the first time and i have a question as to why the characters didn't do this

Hello! So me and a friend watched The Thing recently and it's a fantastic film, solid 8/10 at a minimum. I didn't realise how much modern body horror was influenced by the film until i watched it. However my friend raised a question i haven't really been able to answer, which is:

"Why not just like, get like everyone in like a big room or something and have everyone sleep in it so nobody is ever alone and they cant like be gotten and shit"

So basically, why not just convert the largest room into a dormitory and have everyone in it at all times, only leaving it for necessary tasks and in which case you bring along half the group. Then, during the nights, you have half the group on watch while the other half sleeps in seperate beds as far apart from eachother as possible. Repeat this cycle until Windows regains radio comms or have have people brainstorm a test like Macready does.

I get like "The paranoid ones wouldnt let themselves be watched over!" but their only other option is to go it alone which realistically nobody would do. I feel like most characters would agree to the system, and once the majority consensus is reached you either have to join or get picked off (Like what we see when Macready comes back from the snow) They'd be smart enough to know that going alone out into the arctic would be a death sentence from either the cold, hunger or The Thing waiting to pick solo people off. Obviously paranoia makes people stupid, but humans have an instinctual need to ALWAYS be apart of a group- especially in stressful situations (which we see in the film). After a day or two of the group system i think things would settle into an uneasy stalemate with nobody wanting to act out due to fear, and someone would work out the blood test or something similar. Hell, the original blood probably wouldn't even be tampered with, as it was only after the bennings-thing that Windows drops the keys and allows Norris/Palmer thing into the blood supply, which is ALSO when people realise that The Thing can assimilate people. Just keep showing and including people in tests that are being worked on and help will eventually be reached and the majority must be human and i think that'd forestall any psychotic breaks for long enough for the storm to path and to radio for help.

I can't really think of any reason why this idea of at least spliting the group in half isn't at least mentioned. Sure you get the chance that most of group A is Things, but if the group is that heavily infested then you're kinda just fucked- also people should always be in earshot. is there some super glaringly obvious im missing? it FEELS like im missing something super obvious that'll make me look like an idiot, but im too fucked atm to think

I get that Blair would still have his breakdown, but you CAN just tie him up. he'd always be watched over and he's an old man. Just keep him in the corner with a gag in or something.

also random thought: where did Bliar-Thing get new clothes from? we know that the clothes are destroyed on assimilation, but we see blair thing in his normal fit when he gets Garry

Hello there! So I figured i'd collect a bunch of cheese strats to compile them for fun and i like using 'em.

I'm talking stuff like:

hiding all your units in a siege battle and having one visible character on the opposite side to draw all the defenders to the wrong side of the map.

Baiting the AI into ambushes by having 1 super weak army on raiding stance and 1 strong ambushing army infront

Turn 7 Tier 5 Skavenblight for Skaven

Dwarves having infinite oathgold (i think this was patched though 💔)

Corner camping as well!

Obviously i'm forgetting tonnes, and there's a lot more i don't know. So! What is your favourite cheese strategies to abuse the AI with?

Outside of some very rare exceptional units (i.e Hunters, Noctilis with his mount, Engineers etc), I just can NEVER get the ranged lords/heroes to do *anything* with their primary attack. I'm talking Witchhunters, Infernal Castellans, Sorcerer Prophets, Dreadlords etc. I'm aware that these lords/heroes tend to provide buffs or have magic, but melee characters also do that... they tend to have GOOD buffs, but, again i'd rather they be melee.

I get that lords/heroes with range can stay in the back and slowly chip away at something (maybe get all of 10 kills without magic) without taking damage (unless they get outranged, or the enemy pushes through the frontlines to deal with the annoying like gnat poking at them) but i'd so much rather have an unmounted melee lord for the "safe" damage role, i'd even rather have a melee magic user so they can more effectively kill artillery/ranged if the enemy leaves them undefended! Just to be clear, i'm talking about the attack itself and battlefield performance, NOT army buffs (which i feel like a lot of melee heroes/lords do better as well lol)

Rant:

>!All i can ever get them to do is just sit in the backlines taking the odd potshot and doing pitiful damage to something weak. I've never had success targeting single entities, lord sniping, elite infantry, counter ranged, diving monsters, fucking crows nothing! They just don't deal damage and it makes me go insane.. am i using them wrong?? are they generally just terrible for damage?? why not have a melee support unit that can at least kill weak things? Cycle charging a melee lord (which isn't a good idea generally) would deal more damage and probably take less damage if you do it well. Even the shotgun and sniper variant for the Chorfs/Dwarves unit don't deal much damage to infantry/single entities, and they're MEANT to deal damage! At least the shotgun, if you micro it, can deal good damage to chaff but that means you have to put your "safe" and squishy hero perpendicular (or at least very close to) the frontlines, where any single entity with mass can push through and get to them. !<

>!I mostly just wind up toggling them into melee and having them charge at weaker targets if they have a mount, or leaving them idling above/around my backline for less damage than a fuckin skavenslave would deal. Hell, them shooting increases their Threat rating, which means they are MORE likely to be targetted and focused by the enemy!<

>!I have 1.5k hours and every single time i use a ranged hero/lord for damage, i just wind up going "wow i wish this was a dedicated melee character instead" there's been very, very few situations where i get genuine real value out of paying for the ranged attack that the character being a better melee character wouldn't also accomplish. i'm not saying that NEVER happens, but its so much rarer- and 99% of those situations were just kiting and potshots!<

>!There just feels like such a big disparity between the melee and ranged lords as well, the melee lords have Skarbrand, they have Leoun, Nkari, Grimgor, Mia/Zhao ming etc etc- they just have so many good lords that use melee so well. the ranged has Kugath who is more of an artillery piece, when i'm talking about bows/gun lords which leaves what,.. Markus and the twin sisters- Whos performance with their ranged never gets beyond what a specialised melee lord could do? Wulfhart is too slow to skirmish as well. Compare the peak of melee to the peak of ranged and it's a blowout...!<

The reason for this post was me having an infernal castellan miss every single shot on a unit of longma riders, so they escaped with 2 models and wound up not dying (so i had to deal with them again later)- then he got dived by an imperial paladin and got melted because my melee were too busy to defend him. Thank you Zhao and Gelt.

Am i using them wrong, or is it just a weak archetype?! Should i be targetting something super specific to unlock their kill potential like they're an anime protagonist??
