Obviously on Endor we see an example of a projectable shield used to make the Death Star impervious from all attacks. This of course took a massive amount of energy and began to destabilize the planet. However, what stops you from using these types of shields on smaller craft that would not require nearly as much energy to power. Could you use these shield projectors to make infantry invulnerable from orbit?

Ive heard that all Star Wars droids have a kill command built in due to a robot uprising, if this is the case why could the Republic not have just found a way to hack the code and apply the kill switch to the Separatist army. I get that its possible they didnt because of Palpatine, but aside from malicious intervention is there a reason they could not do this?
