Is my hamster fat?
Hi All, new here. Had a hammy since February. He is a standard Syrian hamster male bought from PetSmart (I know, I know). While in the store for treats for our rabbit (surrendered to us), he caught my daughter’s eye and she walked over to him- he walked to the corner and pressed against the glass facing her. They stared at each other for a solid 2 minutes before she asked to get him.
I did buy a “standard” hamster cage online for him, along with a small water bottle, bowl, hide n seek tubes and a standard wheel (which I thought was too big but works well, tbh). He also has loofa chew toys, aspen wood chunks and wooden chew sticks (from the other pet store) for chewing. We also use a mix of aspen shavings and natural paper bedding (70% paper/25%aspen/5%straw he nests with).
For reference, he’s almost double his size when we got him and his bowl is about 3in by 3in.
