Hamster carrying my finger??

My hamster suddenly started biting (not hard) and trying to carry my finger into his safe spots. Can someone explain why he does this? He even reaches for my hand. He is not aggressive.

wanted to share my hammy tatt!

My hamster is currently 2 years and 11 months old, and honestly he saved my life. My dad got him for me when he noticed I was relapsing from crippling depression lol. This little goober gave me a reason to live, and almost 3 years later I’m at a point where I’m living out all of my dreams. He gave me back my passion and turned me into a responsible human being. I seriously think humans underestimate the impact of caring for hamsters. They break hearts earlier compared to other pets, but as prey animals, they give us everything and more.

Currently going through a pre-grieving process to save myself from a lot of pain, so I got a tattoo of him! Just wanted to share my little story and also a dedication to the love of my life, Buppy 💗

it’s been a long year…

365 days have passed without mozzarella

there have been ups and downs but not a day has went by that i didn’t miss him and think about him.

i finally managed to get around the thought of getting him a sibling. i feared i wouldn’t be able to because it wouldn’t be him and all i want is mozzarella.

-with that ive started building a cage for a new lil guy

-building a new cage is what’s helped me grieve

i see it as a present from mozzarella to his future sibling!

mozzarella is my soul hammy.

i loved him for his whole life and ill miss him for the rest of mine.

My new Roborovski

Got this baby boy 2 days ago. He's still pretty skittish and squirmy ofc. I have, however figured out a cheat-code: I cup him in my palms, lift him to my lips, and make gentle "clicking" noises. He falls asleep almost immediately. Then (discovered by accident) he lets me flip him on his back and fun his belly! He's officially my 5th Hammie and none of them have ever allowed that. My last Hams (syrians) would routinely sleep on my chest, belly, legs etc but flipping on the back was off limits.

Anyways here's this baby, his name's gonna be Jasper, I think

**I think it looks like the skin on his head is pulled back tight but I assure you I was holding home VERY gently- he was half asleep and not struggling**

I connected Micky's enclosure with his playpen permanently and he loves it

Before, he used to spend several hours in the playpen at night and even slept there, but he always had to wait for me when he wanted to go back to his enclosure, and I had to wait for him until he wake up because he slept there.

Now he can go into the playpen whenever he wants, nonstop.

He was so happy when he first realized he could go into the playpen or back to the enclosure through that tunnel.

He’s already 1 year and 7 months old, and he deserves to have as much freedom as possible for the rest of his life.

(I removed the white lava rock from the playpen completely because I noticed that it was crumbling and too rough, which could hurt his paws.)

Nails

This is my first time owning a hamster. He's about 4 months old. Do his nails look like they are too long? or are they normal. If they are too long how do you shorten them?

I apologize for the awful images, he does NOT like being handled.

Update on my hamster

Today he’s become more active and has started leaving his nest. But he’s been trying to climb out of his cage, so I gave him a wheel 😁

How do you know it’s time to say goodbye?

Teo is 2 and a half, about 5 months ago he got a huge tumor inside his ear and the vet had to completely remove the ear to get rid of tthe tumor. Because of the incision’s location the wound couldn’t close completely and left a small hole next to his ear canal that got infected and blinded his right eye.

He was in a lot of pain but that got alleviated after antibiotics, he’s not in pain now but the wound cause constant itching and need regular cleaning (which is extremely stressful to him) to prevent another infection. He stil eats, drinks, forages and burrows so idk if I should consider euthanasia yet:(

My Sweet Meatball

on Sunday he unfortunately passed while I was holding him. this was incredibly unexpected as he wasn't even a year old. on Saturday I had checked on him and noticed that one of his back legs wasn't working and he couldn't properly go to the bathroom. I feel so guilty for it and upset that he had to suffer.
