Hi all!
Would love some advice or perspectives
My almost 12 month old has decided to fight sleep pretty aggressively lately
She has a solid bedtime routine that we do for naps as well; feed, book, slowly dimming the lights, black out curtains, white noise, etc
She’s happy as can be while reading her story, happy while we have a cuddle and slowly close the blinds.
The second the room is completely dark she screams, tries to push her way out of my arms, pulls my hair, arches her back, carrying on like she’s been tortured, it’s heartbreaking and super frustrating all at the same time. Sometimes something eventually works, other times she just wants to latch back on to me and that’s the only way she’ll fall asleep.
It almost seems like she’s ready to get herself to sleep more independently, but placing her in her cot escalates the crying instantly so we’re not playing that game
She’s also chronically waking around 430 every morning and often not managing to go back down.
Her schedule is up around 630 (I moved this from 7-730 to see if that would help any of our issues.. it has not lol) naps are consistently 10ish (I’ll wake her if its getting to the 2hr mark), and 230-3ish (up by 415 at the latest) with bedtime wind down starting 630, aiming to be asleep by 730
Is this just a ride it out sort of transition, or is there something we could tweak to make this easier for us all?
Thanks!
