Hi all,
I'm living in Switzerland with a B permit. My wife, who is currently living in Spain, is coming next month to stay until the end of the year, i.e. around 6 months.
She's coming by car, and plans to keep and use the car during those 6 months in Switzerland. Since she'll be well under the 12 month period, we would like to avoid getting the Swiss plates. My question has two parts:
We plan to "import" the car using the 18.44, that's how I took my own car with me a few years ago. Is this the way to go or is there something better for shorter stays?
Her Spanish car insurance only covers the first 3 months abroad, after that they consider it's not "tourism" anymore and you should get a Swiss insurance (understandable). But I couldn't find any Swiss company that will insure a car without Swiss plates. Do I have any real option or will I need to get the Swiss plates in the end?
Thanks!
