A note, this is not the fastest overall cars, it's the fastest cars to jump into and be quick right away for either new drivers or those fancying a change. It was not a hotlap but a stint driven at race pace, high fuel and a stock setup. They are all within .4 of a second so any of them are competitive. In reverse order:

  • 12 Ferrari 296 GT3 2023 - Like all Ferraris, keep it away from kerbs. This was a shade slower than the 13th place but I put it here to keep the fans happy.
  • 11 Mercedes AMG Evo GT3 2020 - Great over kerbs, stable and easy to drive but not the fastest, a good beginners car but it absolutely guzzles fuel like a petrolholic.
  • 10 Aston Martin V8 Vantage GT3 2019 - Stable, easy to drive, 6 or 7/10 in everything but not 8 or more in anything.
  • 9 Honda NSX Evo GT3 2018 - Some say it's hard to drive, I found no problems with it, this could be a hipsters choice to take on the meta cars.
  • 8 Lamborghini Huracan EVO2 GT3 2023 - Some say it's tail happy and nukes rear tyres, just add 2 extra ducts to the rears and trim out the oversteer.
  • 7 BMW M4 GT3 2021 - It's stable and easy to drive, fast but does not have that special something. Got a rep for bad drivers as anyone can make it fast....until they crash.
  • 6 McLaren 720s Evo GT3 2023 - Not very good over bumps but great elsewhere. A solid all round choice.
  • 5 Lexus RC F GT3 2016 - Clarksons car, Poowweerr, top acceleration and top speed means you can overtake easy....if you can keep up in the corners.
  • 4 Audi R8 LMS Evo II GT3 2022 - Superb brakes, not as hard to drive as some suggest, use this if you are the last of the late brakers.
  • 3 Ford Mustang GT3 2025 - Supposedly the best at everything. I did not find it the best at anything, still a good choice but everyone will drive this because it has the fastest hotlap.
  • 2 Bentley Continental GT3 2018 - A shock second place, fast, stable and great on long runs. Not as cumbersome as you would expect. This is the Endurance choice as it is fast, good on fuel with a huge fuel tank, it will drive for hours without biting.
  • 1 Nissan GTR Nismo GT3 2018 - The WTF winner, fast, fantastic brakes and does everything brilliantly. They only downside is the gearing which means at some tracks (PR for sure) it could top out, it's a monster on all the others though.

Car for bad drivers = M4

Car for Multi hour endurance races = Bentley

Car for sprint races, whatever takes your fancy.

I'd revisit the Bentley, Lexus and GTR if you are one who just does not driver older cars. They are a lot better than expected.

These are the cars to avoid, all are multi seconds off a good lap time.

  • 31 Honda NSX GT3 2017 - The worst car in the game by well over a second a lap. Avoid at all costs unless you want a self imposed handicap.
  • 30 Lamborghini Huracan GT3 2015 - I've seen many people say it's hard to drive, it's not. There are 2 updated versions so there's no point in using this one.
  • 29 Audi R8 LMS GT3 2015 - This is another one that is supposedly tricky to drive but it was fine, it's slow so use the 2018 version if you are an Audi fan.
  • 28 Reiter Engineering R-EX GT3 2017 - It's a slightly improved 2015 Huracan, still poor though.
  • 27 BMW M6 GT3 2017 - Outdated like a lot of older versions. The M4 is far superior.
  • 26 Mercedes AMG GT3 2015 - No reason to use this unless you are limited to choosing old models.
  • 25 Bentley Continental GT3 2015 - A good endurance option, does not drive like a boat but there is a much better model out.
  • 24 Emil Frey Jaguar GT3 2018 - I think this is the most hated car but it's far from the worst.
  • 23 McLaren 650S GT3 2015 - It's surprisingly to see a McLaren this low but all pre 2016 cars are bad.
  • 22 Nissan GTR Nismo GT3 2015 - The best 2015 and earlier car. The gearing might top out on faster tracks but it is very good to drive
  • 21 Ferrari 488 GT3 2018 - Surprisingly poor for a Ferrari, it has a weak engine and hates kerbs. Even those ones that look like wooden planks bolted to the ground It will be twerking all over the place.
  • 20 McLaren 720S GT3 2019 - Not great over bumps and there's an Evo version out so there's no need to drive this.
  • 19 Porsche 911 GT3 R 2018 - It has fantastic brakes. It feels fast but isn't. There's 2 other Porsches for you if you are a fan.
  • 18 Ferrari 488 EVO GT3 2020 - Great grip, easy to drive which makes it a good 1st car but is let down by a poor engine.
  • 17 Aston Martin V12 Vantage GT3 2013 - Great V12 sound, easy to drive, absorbs kerbs really well but the V8 is better.
  • 16 Audi R8 LMS Evo GT3 2019 - A big improvement on the oldest Audi but no reason to use this over the Evo2. Not as hard to drive as some suggest.
  • 15 Porsche 911 II GT3R 2019 - Slightly faster than the other Porsche, but still not competitive for me.
  • 14 Porsche 992 GT3R 2023 - Produced the exact same times as the 991 II and it's the slowest 2021 or later car.
  • 13 Lamborghini Huracan Evo GT3 2019 - A big improvement on the oldest Lambo but there's an Evo2 so no need to drive this unless you have to drive a pre 2020 car.

Note about the Porsches, they need to be driven a special way. I admit I did not learn that so this might be why they are so low. I feel it is still useful for people who read that Porsches are fast, try it and wonder why they are not competitive because that was the case for me

The bad cars are basically the older versions, the Porsches (for people who just jump in and drive) and surprisingly the Ferraris.

I used the stock aggressive setup on all cars.

Tomorrow, the top 12, a very surprising top 12.

I will post these over 3 days because no one would read the whole thing in one go.

Today, the single make series and GT4s, there are some major surprises, for example, in GT3 there are 3 pre 2020 cars in the top 5. These are supposedly non competitive.

  • The M2 is great to drive but has awful gearing, you will only light up the 1st led in 5th a second before you brake at Paul Ricard. 6th and 7th are not used at all which makes it feel sluggish.
  • The Ferrari and Lambo single make series are great fun, less aero and more power plus you don't have to worry about their competitiveness.
  • The Porsches have no TC, ok with care in the dry, good luck in the wet. They both have more power than the GT3s which makes them the hardest to drive in the entire game.

GT4:

  • 11th Maserati Granturismo MC 2016 - No ABS or TC means it will take a lot of time to master and even then, it won't be quick.
  • 10th Ginetta G55 2012 - It hates kerbs and has very short gearing which will top out at fast tracks, you will then be a sitting duck.
  • 9th Alpine A110 2018 - Good cornering but slow and does not like kerbs.
  • 8th KTM X-Bow 2016 2016 - This too is good in the corners, it does not like kerbs but it's a bit quicker than the Alpine.
  • 7th Chevrolet Camaro R 2017 - Great sound but not good in corners, your typical US car.
  • 6th Mercedes AMG 2016 - Very stable, a good learner car but it does not like chicanes and feels like what you'd expect a Bentley to drive like. Lumbering.
  • 5th AMR V8 Vantage 2018 - Does everything well but nothing fantastic, a solid choice.
  • 4th Audi R8 LMS 2018 - Fast and good in the corners but has the worst brakes of the lot.
  • 3rd Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 - Clubsport 2019 Your typical mid engined Porsche, feels light, nimble but maybe a touch underpowered.
  • 2nd BMW M4 2018 - Good at everything and easy to drive, kerbs are no problem for it.
  • 1st McLaren 570S 2016 - Like the M4, like kerbs and easy to drive but the mid engine makes it more nimble, which makes it the fastest overall.

Tomorrow the GT3 cars you should not drive if you want to be competitive.
