For a few years there, Kreutzmann would play these great shows, sometimes multi-city runs, billed using a localized play on the word “Dead” - Dead on the Water, Dead on the Rocks, Daze of the Dead, Voodoo Dead, Mahalo Dead… so fun and clever. Hoping for another but who knows? The setlists, lineups, venues, and music itself were always crazy too!

After having not seen a show since last year, over the last couple weeks I was lucky enough to catch Daniel Donato, Jefferson Starship, and Willie Nelson. Three very different shows, all of them great. I saw stealies in the crowd at each one too. It occurred to me that Donato, David Freiberg, and Willie have all played with Bobby and Phil.

Bobby and Phil are still around. Maybe not physically, but definitely in our hearts and minds, and those of the great American musicians still out there on the road. They left such an amazing stamp on it all.
