Does this sound like I’m still being considered, or am I reading too much into it?

Need some perspective on my hiring process with wsp

I applied in March for a role at a different location first, but got rejected because they ended up hiring internally. During that process, I built a good connection with the HR recruiter.

Then in April, another opening came up at a different location. HR called me and said they were skipping me directly to the panel interview because they already liked my background/profile from before.

The panel round went really well. At the end, the hiring manager asked for my personal number. During the interview I mentioned that I was flying out the following week for work, and if it helped their hiring process, I could stop by the office in person. He really liked that idea and invited me in.

I went to the office on April 16 and met the team in person. Everything honestly went great. Since then, I’ve stayed in touch with the hiring manager and all communication has been positive.

I followed up recently may 7 and this was his exact response:

I also called HR on May 3, and she said the hiring manager would need to provide updates from his side.

I’m honestly confused what to make of this. It’s been almost a month since the onsite visit, but there’s also been no rejection and the HM still responds positively.

is this normal? Does this sound like I’m still being considered, or am I reading too much into it?

I applied for a position in the first week of February (Location A). I had a screening call a few days later, which went well, and HR seemed interested. However, I didn’t receive any updates after that, even after multiple follow-ups. After about three weeks, HR called and said they had hired internally.

Then I applied for the same role at the same company but in a different location (Location B). The same HR person contacted me and mentioned that the role was far from my current location and that there was no relocation assistance. I confirmed I was okay with that.

After about three weeks, she followed up again to confirm I was still okay relocating without assistance. I said yes, and she moved me directly to the panel interview, skipping the intermediate steps.

I had the panel interview, and it went very well—the team seemed to like me. Toward the end, I mentioned that I would be traveling for work the following week and offered to visit in person if it would help the hiring process. They liked the idea, and I flew down and had another in-person interview. That also went well, and the hiring manager seemed positive.

This was around April 16. The following week, I stayed in touch with the hiring manager via text, and the responses were positive. Around April 23, he mentioned he would update me that day or by Monday via a call.

There was no update by Monday. I followed up with a text and call—no response. On Wednesday, I called HR to check for updates. She was vague and said they were working on paperwork.

Now it’s May 1 (Friday), and I still haven’t received any update.
