I was wondering if it would be okay to take out my lip piercing (side labret) out for an hour twice/thrice a week? I have had it since January and there is no irritation or bumps or anything of the sort and I clean it regularly with saline solution and non-alcoholic mouthwash but I'm still worried. Currently, the jewellery used is a horseshoe ring.

If not, is it okay to switch it out for a clear retainer twice/thrice a week?
