It’s hard finding a job nowadays so I have to drive a lot further than I’d like just to find work. I always wanted to try working at the Albertsons pharmacy, and since I’ve been a tech for a while I’ve been looking for job openings. For years now (at least about 4-5) I’ve been looking online and even asking in store if they have any pharmacy tech openings. I’ve never found any positions open, aside from once every couple years there will be one listing but 3 hours away or something. Plus within an hour radius there’s a ton of Albertsons stores.

So I don’t understand why it’s so difficult to find an opening there. Do they really only hire every ten years or something? Maybe it’s just my area of Southern California but still it’s frustrating

I live in Victorville so it’s a bit far but I have been driving down the hill for work for a while now, so I’m used to it. This is a very random question so I know not everyone will know the answer/solution to it, but my question is: does anyone know how to apply at/get into contact with the a&w restaurant over there in Redlands/mentone? Their phone line used to work so I used to be able to call, which would save me a trip. But they no longer have a phone line. The restaurant itself is still open but I have no idea how to apply.

Every time I’ve come recently I’ve been told I can’t apply since the manager/owner isn’t there. Online I see no site or job listings ever for this location. So for those of you who have applied or worked there in the past, how did you manage to apply there? I assume if nothing works I would just have to keep driving there at random times for a few days to see if I can finally catch a time when the manager is actually in.

Back in 2020 I left Amazon because they were telling people with Covid to come into work anyways. I didn’t want me or my family to get Covid so I left. Cut back to now and I am back working at one of their warehouses. I saw that they will pay for your college if you become a blue badge, so as soon as I started work I worked my ass off. My scan rate is 300+ and I even water spider for myself and others. It’s rough working a ten hour shift and my body is killing me at the end of every day. It’s dumb to slave away like that for a billion dollar corporation who could care less if you died in one of their oven roasted warehouses, but I thought it would be worth it in the long run because of the college stuff I mentioned.

Anyways it’s nearly my 4th week there and while that’s not a super long time, I was taken back by what one of the red vests called me up for. Here I was thinking I was going to be thanked or complimented for my hard work, but nope. They called me up to tell me “there’s a lot of time in between scans, don’t let it happen again or we will fire you”. I tried to explain that since I scan so fast, there’s many times where there’s absolutely no work to do. Literally I will walk around the entire area and there will be no boxes at all to scan, no carts to take, etc. Of course he doubled down and indirectly told me I was lazy.

I asked “what do I do when there’s absolutely no work to do?”. And he said to find a red vest and ask them what to do. This further annoyed me because I have done that multiple times and they tell me “I don’t know what you can do, just hang here until more boxes come down”. And half the time they are nowhere to be found. So I busted my ass thinking I was doing good, only for these fools to call me lazy. I’d say it annoys me a lot because I see “favorites” of the managers who just sit down and play on their phone, or they’ll go to the bathroom for 2+ hours, or they barely work, they are high, or not wearing safety shoes.

Yet I’m the one being chewed out. I mentioned the safety shoes thing because my feet were killing me so bad that I decided to buy a pair of black asics shoes just to stop the pain. But management still bitched about that, so now I gotta just tough it out. But they let others get away with wearing non safety shoes. The safety lady will let girls wear regular non safety sketchers and guys will wear Jordans. But for some reason I’m the only one she calls out. Anyways sorry for the rant, I’m just pissed that I’m in a back breaking labor department having to worry about stupid “metrics” and being called lazy, when I could just be having an easier time working at mc Donald’s for the same pay. Amazon really is shit
