My wife and I just purchased a house last year that was built in Minnesota in 1999. The A/C and furnace are both original, which puts them at 27+ years old. The A/C has a leaky evaporator coil, and needs to be replaced, but we’re thinking of just replacing the whole unit with a new A/C since it would likely need to be replaced soon anyway. We bought the house with a home warranty, so that is helping with the costs of the new unit.

Should I also replace my furnace at the same time, or do I wait for that to fail since we have the warranty. It has been working fine for now, but I understand that it’s also on its last leg.
