Hitchhiking through West Ireland

Taking my trusty ‘Mini Apocalypse’ on a little hitching and fly-fishing trip through the west of Ireland. I also wore this yesterday on a wonderful, albeit windy, day out on Lough Corrib.

The pictures of course don’t nearly do this area justice. One of the most gorgeous places I’ve ever had the pleasure of visiting.

Meet Ron & Gary, two of the greatest cars ever made. Simple to fix, wonderful to drive, and haven't ever let us down, as long as you don't count the multiple occasions in which they have.

Me and my brother plan on taking these two cross-continental, Inspired by our childhood of many, many rewatches of Top Gear specials, strapping some CB radios on the dash and hitting the road.

The plan starts from our home in England and driving them through a portion of Western Europe, sticking mostly to coastal roads, and eventually crossing the Gibraltar Strait into the continent of Africa, and of course then taking them back. The African portion of the trip should contain mountain ranges, and hopefully a little bit of desert further South.

My question is, what preparations should we realistically make to the cars to help them on a rather long journey? I am fairly confident that both cars could probably just make it there if we started the journey tomorrow, I have taken Ron (the wonderful red breadvan) across the ferry at Dover and all the way to Amsterdam without a hitch, my worry is that the increased heat of the African leg of the journey could present some problems. My basic thought process is chuck a roof rack on with some spare parts and tools and send it, but is there anything in particular that anyone here would recommend?

Also if anyone has made a similar journey any pointers would be greatly appreciated.

TLDR; Any advice for driving these machines on a 4,000 mile round trip to Morroco.
