Why prune when you can propagate! Rosemary, my favourite 'set it and forget it' prop.

Pictures are a mix of last year's and this year's props, was looking forward to share start to finish but I kept giving away my clones so here it goes 😁

my quick prop prep:

- choose any pretty branch

- cut off any side branches from the lower portion of the branch.

- using a lil knife, scrape the bark of the lower end of the branch.

- dress up the scraped branch with a plastic bag, fill with soil, water, seal it, and forget it.

- come back in a few months :D

then when roots are taking over, relocate to a bigger bag, or pot... shorten the green foliage to only about 20-30 cm, and keep in humid enough tent for the first few weeks until you see the roots taking hold of the new soil estate.

- repeat with all branches of the parent plant that you want to prune :D

I love seeing flower spikes.. but I broke it off..

So my Venus has been through a lot during its hibernating season...

I had placed it outside in a greenhouse during winter.. and some unfortunate storms beat it, the pot, and the whole greenhouse around the place all night... on TWO different stormy occasions...

so during it's comatose sleep.. I transplanted it in a new sphagnum perlite home, and held on to faith that it will survive...

it now decided to greet this spring with a flower spike 😭..

I broke it off ... 🫠😔 and here I am hoping it will regain strength this summer in the outdoor south facing corner of a zone 8-9 climate.

thank you for the read and any similar experiences/ realistic encouragement.
