M1 MacBook Pro better/faster than M3 Pro
I have been wondering and can now definitely confirm:
My M1 MacBook Pro from 2020 (16GB M1 non Pro) on MacOS Sequoia is faster than my M3 Pro (18gb m3 pro) on MacOS Tahoe.
Not on a Davinci Resolve export (the m3 is noticeably faster) but with everything else.
From the laptop being awake when opened, no battery drain when sleeping to just the overall experience. The UI feels so sluggish on the M3 while it is still snappy on the m1. The battery lasts way longer than the M3 even though it is at 80% health. Handoff works smoother: half the calls I try to answer on the m3 Pro fail while being 100% reliable on the M1. Memory leaks are the norm with the m3 on Tahoe.
Before you asked, yes I checked for anomalies on the activity monitor and can't see anything out of the ordinary. I also tried disabling the glass effects and all that.
I can't be the only one to notice this. I think I'll be going back to the m1 as my daily driver and use the M3 only for Video editing.
The M1 feels totally reliable and efficient while the m3 starts to feel like any old Windows laptop, heating up you backpack if you close it at the wrong time and the battery barely lasting a half day of work.
