My first toned coin

First off, I read the FAQ on toning before I posted and I give a huge up like to the folks who put that together. As I explore more of the coins I have inherited, I'll explore the FAQ more I'm sure. That said, I've received my first toned coin and regardless of real or fake, I consider myself fortunate to have gotten it. My last foray in ebay live straight up bidding auctions. Saw this one and ended up paying a gajillion (41) dollars for it! 😁 It is a what? 40% proof if I recall it properly. It looked clean and to the naked eye it still does. So, I'm happy with it.

What I'm interested in, and I have my suspicions, is if you also think it's artificially toned. The splotchiness on the obverse I think is the indicator of being artificial. Or am I wrong? The original images are a a touch dark so I've applied lightening and include those as well.

So many GPU Choices! Upgrading and need recommendations

ASROCK X570 Tai Chi (PCIe 4.0) build with an EVGA GeForce RTX 2070 Super FTW 12gb, 64gb RAM, AMD Ryzen 7 3700X 8-Core 3.6ghz, Win11

Was recommended that I upgrade the processor and the GPU to better handle FPS like BF6. Since I've been running the RTX2070 it might be best to transplant a 5070/5080 in its place. Might be adding an SSD at the same time to run the games from. This upgrade will cost about or under half of a comparably specced new build from my the local Microcenter.

Used to be a PC tech back in the day and put my current machine together 6 years ago just before everything shut down. There's still life in this sucker, as it's still plugging along, and I'd like to extend it further so what I'm asking is for recommendations. All of my information is out of date, but Gigabyte, ASUS and MSI had good reputations back then. Is this still the same? Are there any gems that fly under the radar? My local has those brands plus PNY and Zotac. I'd never heard of Zotac before.

If you're thought is to respond "do some research" please tell me what page(s) you trust. Are tomshardware, pcmagazine and pcworld still reliable? Or should I just visit my local Microcenter and bug them? LOL

Thank you for your time.

Quarter hoard update

Currently up to 78 pre Washington quarters and 19 type 2 Standing Liberty quarters! These are from the large amount of coins my father left me. Only two of the SLQ have a readable date. 1928 & 1929. All of the coins have been through circulation and I think they aren't worth grading. Still have to go through to catalog and research them.

I'm pretty new to collecting and stacking and would appreciate any info. I was kind of shocked how much those quarters are worth

EDIT: Up to 86 Washington quarters now!

Quick catch up: Older ASROCK X570 Tai Chi (PCIe 4.0) build with an EVGA GeForce RTX 2070 Super FTW and was looking for more info.

Updated the BIOS and the next day Windows allowed me to update to 11 so I did it. No problems. Everything I expect to run is running. Have to clear up a driver security issue but all good otherwise. Haven't run BF6 yet but that's coming soon and not a priority atm.

The question I have is: should I buy a refurbished 2070 FTW and bridge the cards or buy a new 5070 (PCIE 5.0) as someone recommended? I'm aware 5.0 is backwards compatible. Besides the power needed, which is covered already, would the cost-savings of a 2nd card stand up to a brand new card?

The follow-up to that is that I've been out of the tech loop for a bit, and I'm wondering if anyone has suggestions on sub-$1000 cards. I'm seeing a lot out there. Are there any to avoid? If this has been asked recently, please disregard and I'll have a look.

Thanks for any info you're willing to share.

EDIT: Omitted an "I"

Hi! Long ago I used to be a PC tech and have built most every PC I've owned. Dropped out of the industry in 2002 as I was burnt out, but I kept a finger out there to see what was happening. That said, I've been using my gaming PC since I assembled it in December of 2019. It's been a champion! Almost 5.5 years and now I've gotta throw in the towel. A few random BSOD's, a couple of mid-game lock ups two days ago in BF6 (haven't run it since) and also outside of it while using chrome, plus MS saying "you can't run Win 11 on that thing!" a while back. Using the same machine to put this message on reddit.

Yes, I assembled and set up my PC and what I want to know is if I can upgrade some components to get Win11 compliant or if I should relegate this one for just surfing the net? Here's a general rundown of my main components:

ASROCK X570 Taichi Mobo
AMD Ryzen 7 3700X 8-core processor
EVGA GEFORCE RTX 2070 FTW
128 gb (4 x 32) T-FORCE XTREEM DDR4 (9,390MB/s Write, 3,861 MB/s Read, 6,626 Average Speed)

-Need to upgrade the main drive to a new SSD, without a doubt as it's a corporate 1/2 terabyte drive. Everything is installed on a WD "Black" drive (7200 RPM, 6TB)
-Yeah, that's a boatload of RAM, but I got it at a good price and I did want to work on some graphics on top of gaming. If I have to get another machine, I'll find out the model number and ensure compatibility before attempting to use it.
-The CPU cooling system will likely be upgraded as well. A single-fan watercooler has been working but the processor has often been around 80-82 degrees celsius. Aaand that's hot. But, it's still working as I type this message on that machine. There are five other fans in the case, not including the three on the EVGA card.
- I'm not a CPU tweaker and never learned how to boost performance. Since doing that wrong can result in failure, I've just left it pretty much as-is. I've got the s/w running to monitor temps. Currently a balmy 45 with two browsers open, but that seems to be its resting temp.
- Been running BF6 with high details and was averaging between 80 and 90 FPS. Dumbed them down after the last update as the game suggested I was running out of VRAM. Tried to play after and it locked up both times. Haven't tried again in two days.

That said, would it be feasible to upgrade my current setup to be Win11 compliant or should I just hit up my local PC & accessories store for a new build?

-My local PC store is pretty well known and very competent. If I can't do the work, I'll go through them.

I appreciate any suggestions.

Thanks!

EDIT: NW Burbs of Chicago. The store I'm referring to is in the Western Burbs.

My pop left me a bunch of coins to hunt through. Earlier this evening I found this group of short stacks, separated by years, in a paper sleeve. There's a 1928 standing liberty (SL?) at the bottom right and the other 11 have no discernible date. Most of the 1930's coins look like they spent a lot of time being used in machines that accepted coins, if I'm not mistaken. I've done a little research on them and the melt value was $377 plus change. Also, I'm pretty stoked that the date and most of the text is in decent shape on the one '28 unlike the rest of them.

I'm an amateur and I've been trying to learn from this sub and other similar groups. Please take it easy on me if my terminology is off. There's still lots to learn.

And, just to follow-up something from my last post. I'm not a bot! LOL

I have a bit of money I can play with and recently participated in some ebay live auctions. One guy was running a grab bag kind. Bid, win, pick a number. 20 lots. First time, I ended up with a nice CC Morgan. Stayed in for another round and ended up with some modern graded proof quarters. Went handmade the next day and won some gold bullion Stayed away for four days. Stumbled into the last round of the same guy. Won three lots and ended up with a random PR70 nickel and two small, graded palladium coins! It's not come cheap! Taking a hiatus from that kind of auction for a while so I can figure out whether I came out ahead or not.

The first lot will be arriving hopefully by the weekend. Once I've got it figured out what I've actually got and what it's worth, I'll post an update if anyone's interested.

The Cuauhtemoc silver ounce is my first and my most recent arrival. I really like it. Paid $85 when every other one I'd seen was $10+ higher. Ours just there because it looks nice.

I inherited a lot of junk and some silver coins from my father and I've begun hunting silver. The 1921 P? (no mint mark) just arrived today.
