I have never been a fan of the horror genre, but I never understood why people complain about people tripping in them. That stuff happens all the time.
Just to prove my point, here are two separate instances of people tripping after getting chased by elephants in broad daylight. No big roots or any other obvious obstructions in their way. They just seem to trip on their own feet.

Full disclosure, nobody gets seriously hurt in either video. The elephants seem to take pity on them and spare them lol. But it just goes to show that average Joes are prone to falling on their assess despite perfect visibility and flat terrain.
It would actually be pretty unrealistic for none of the cast to trip while they are getting chased in a dark forest or something.
