The MJ rollercoaster

The MJ rollercoaster

It's been a strange week. A good weight loss last Saturday, blood test during the week which showed I'm no longer prediabetic, then first bout of sulphur burps with a bit of diarrhoea on Friday and then put on 1.1kg this morning.

I thought it had been a good week for food and got to the gym 3 times and with the diarrhoea clearing things out I was hoping for another good loss. Especially seeing as I'm getting closer to a tighter hole on my belt.

The graph shows that I often put on 1-2kg in a week. I'm not tracking calories but know I'm eating below or close to my TDEE from when I used to track.

No longer prediabetic

My HbA1c level had been at 42 for a couple of years but it was only last May that I was warned that I was prediabetic, which was the kick I needed.

Tried all the normal stuff but finally took the plunge with MJ in February this year.

I've lost 9kg this year, some of it Christmas weight, with 6.5kg on MJ, so had a blood test and the results have come in. The level is now down to 38. My uric acid levels are down low enough that I should be able reduce/come off the gout meds.

Just need to get the blood pressure down a bit more which will come with my improved lifestyle.

Great community, thanks for all the support.

Here's my experience of using a syringe for the golden dose.

I cleaned everything up as usual and then inserted the needle into the red seal. I found this quite tricky, I still have my fat, sausage fingers. I was holding the pen above the syringe how I've seen doctors do it in the movies. Any tips on how to hold both items would be great.

I pulled down on the plunger and when I released it the plunger went back in. So I tried again but a lot slower. I don't know if it's because the liquid is quite viscose or that the plunger in the pen needs to move but it took a couple of seconds to extract the liquid.

I extracted about 0.7ml and then pointed the syringe up, tapped it and primed it down to 0.6ml.

The needle is a bit bigger than the pen, but it was still just a little scratch. You just need to inject it slowly, as you do with the pen.

I'm on 7.5mg so each shot is about £50 so definitely worth the effort.

I had my first experience of a KB hater yesterday.

I had seen the bloke many times in the gym, but can't actually remember seeing him doing any exercise, just talking.

He came up to me in the middle of an EMOM session and started going on about KBs being a waste of time, won't help with bench press etc. I had to agree with him about the bench press, but said that's not important to me, which he couldn't get his head around.

My next minute started so I did my next set of swings with him standing next to me. He carried on again during my next rest. I was recovering so not really listening to him. This went on for another 3 rounds before he started feeling stupid standing next to me and sloped off.

I was getting worried that I was going to have to do more sets than planned if he hadn't walked off.
