Hey, it's u/dunkm. After having some of y'all reach out to me about your Seikos that need some care, I decided to create this separate account to keep messages separate. But today, I am just here to share a project that came across my bench…

This SKX013 came in with a crown that wouldn't turn without real resistance. The owner's concern was the movement, but once I got into it, the culprit was the crown gasket. Twenty-three years of twisting will do that.

It's a good reminder that gaskets are wear items. If your SKX has never had them replaced, they're probably due.

Resistance aside, a 23-year-old watch still needs a service, and the movement backed that up. It was running at 180 degrees of amplitude before it hit the bench, which is low enough to cause reliability problems and leaves little margin for positional variation. After a full service it's sitting at 260 degrees with an accuracy of around +12 seconds per day. With fresh gaskets and a full service, it's ready for the water again.
