Started wet FIP treatment today — vet worried her liver can’t handle the meds

After 5 weeks of being given different diagnoses, my cat was finally diagnosed with wet FIP. She started treatment today with remdesivir , but the vet said that if there’s no improvement within the first 2 days, we may have to stop the medication because her liver and kidney enzyme levels are extremely high. The vet explained that if she doesn’t respond quickly, her liver may not be able to handle the treatment.

My cat is 2 years old, spayed, and currently weighs around 2.8 kg. She has been sick for a while now with low appetite and vomiting.

She was recently treated at a veterinary hospital and prescribed several IV and subcutaneous medications. Due to complications with medication availability, I had to administer Antodine (famotidine) IV at home through her cannula. The prescribed dose was 0.1 ml, but I misread it and accidentally gave 1 ml instead—about 10 times the prescribed amount.

I contacted a few veterinary clinics, and while none of them said it required an immediate emergency visit, I received mixed responses. Some said nothing would likely happen, while others mentioned it could potentially affect her kidneys. I haven’t been able to reach the original hospital that treated her.

It’s now been about 2.5 hours since I gave the dose, and I haven’t noticed any change in her condition. However, she was already lethargic and not eating before this due to her ongoing illness.

She has been diagnosed with cholangitis, bladder crystals, and gastrointestinal issues.

The reason I’m asking here instead of going straight to an emergency clinic is because my experience with veterinarians in Egypt hasn’t been great. She’s been sick for about 4 weeks partly because I had to visit multiple vets who didn’t manage her case properly.

I’m really worried and would appreciate any advice or insight on whether this overdose could cause serious harm and what signs I should watch for.
