Whis at fault

I'm a plumber & got a call for a simple job to replace hot water valve that was dripping under sink, so I get there and cut the old valve out and install a new one, job was done ✔️ but hild on, then he asks me to replace another (needle) valve on the cold line also inside kitchen cabinet, which he said was for his fridge line, & is piped in a way that goes under his cabinet and into basement ceiling and outta of sight, soo I agree to change valve for extra charge, so I install it & then head down to basement to turn the house water on, as im coming back up the stairs & head into the kitchen i see the home owner bent down inside the kitchen cabinet turning all the valves on, am like in my head what the f#@% are you doing, anyways I done, get paid. I leave to the next job, but the later that night he calls me saying his basement flooded, turns out the needle valve i replaced wasn't for the fridge but for an old reverse osmosis filter system, someone previous disconnected it but left an open water line inside ceiling without capping it, you can guess the rest

Simple job went wrong

Guy calls me and says his hot valve under his kitchen sink is dripping and wants it replaced, easy enough right, soo I give him my price & we agree, so the next day I go over cut out the old valve and install a new one, job done, but wait he then asks me to replace a needle valve that was on the cold line cuz its flattened the pex pipe its installed on & goes to 1/4" pipe which goes under the cabinet & out of sight, which he said was for the fridge line, made sense, soo I do it for extra change, soo I go down to turn the main house water on, & when I come back i see he's bent over under the kitchen cabinet turning all the valves on, I'm like what the f, anyways waters on, I got paid I go home, calls me back like 5 hours later saying his basements flooded cuz the work I did, so turns out that wasn't a fridge line but an old R.O. system that someone disconnected & left the open 1/4" water pipe in ceiling, & you can guess the rest of the story. To me this is on him.

I've had a small business since 2016, & I'm register to pay hst, but can I revert back to a small supplier, cuz last 2 years I've grossed under $30,000 annually. It's a part time thing and not really looking to grow it anymore
