Starting an in-person support group for loss mamas
Hi, Im sorry we’re all here, I lost my babygirl at 39 weeks and 4 days in October 2024. She was stillborn due to a Fetomaternal hemorrhage. In the beginning I was in utter shock for a long time. I tried virtual groups and always felt out of my comfort zone or just felt very detached because the virtual world for support felt very off putting. I haven’t made any loss mom friends and all my regular friends ran for the hills when I became a loss mom. Now that I’m 18 months out I feel myself craving connection with other loss parents. My husband has found a wonderful group of men to lean on and I feel like I need that now more than ever but haven’t been able to find it. I decided to create something myself, I’m just kind of getting it together but wanted to reach out here and get any advice/input on what an in person support group should feel like, be about, what you would want from a support group leader etc. what’s your ideal support group look like? I want to make it feel right.
And just so everyone knows I’m based in southern CA so if you’re from here please let me know a way to get in touch with you if you want to be involved.
My Instagram is called mamasevenafter.
