Good morning!
Question for this crowd, I could really use some advice. My family and I just bought 12 acres in Indiana. We are still about 2 years out from moving full time to the land (building a farm house). That said, we are renting a house about 10 minutes away and will be using the land on the weekends until we move.
I am currently at a crossroads when it comes to equipment selection.
Option 1 - Kubota L3902 with a rotary as primary cutter of pasture and open fields + high end residential or lower end commercial ZTR for cutting about 3 acres and around the barns.
Pros - I can do everything we want to do starting now.
Cons - Maybe not getting best ROI for 2 years
Option 2 - High end (think Turf Tiger II) ZTR for two years and worry about buying a tractor when we live there full time.
Pros - Lesser upfront cost and high end mower
Cons - Lose some utility and then end up with both a Tractor and a commercial Mower when we move full time.
My two primary questions:
+ If I go with Option 1, what is a solid ZTR you would recommend to go with the Tractor
+ If I go with Option 2, is this overkill to have both the TT II and a tractor for this size of land?
Appreciate all your input!
