Before I did this diet I was trying to find a cure for my eczema and newly found psoriasis which had been a problem in my life since day 6 months old. I was desperate to try anything and just wanted to get rid of it because the doctors told me it’s a complicated condition and there’s nothing I could do about it. Whilst listening to Jordan Peterson and this diets success for him and his daughters arthritis remission as a result of the diet and also a number of instagram personalities that claimed that it was the only thing to get rid of it, I thought of trying it at least to see if this could finally rid me of it. Just for context I have food pollen allergy and a lot of vegetables and fruits etc cause me an incredibly itchy throat and puffy lips along with nuts as well. So I thought meat! That must be the answer, everyone’s body is different and maybe mine is more programmed to meat.

So I did the ultra strict Peterson plan which is strictly beef and only beef and planned to do it for a week or two. Spent a fortune on steak, got beef ribs to make a bone broth, calf’s liver for extra nutrients and vitamins. What could go wrong. Well, at first it was amazing, I was packed to the gills with energy, stronger in the gym and I didn’t even need to sleep as much. The best thing is that I love steak and who doesn’t enjoy eating 5 a day, you think you’d get board but you don’t. This equated to 2500 calories so I thought I would perhaps loose a little weight perhaps. Day 2.5 and I start to get dizzy I start reading up on why and it turns out that you need a fair bit of salt in order to replenish your electrolytes so I made another steak and put a very good amount of my Himalayan salt on, within 20 minutes I was cured! Amazing. Only problem was that I still was having trouble Crafting a fudge pop since I started. But regardless felt amazing and all of the itching had stopped! Eczema was no more! Day 4.5 no eczema, no fudge but still feeling amazing but I did have my suspicions on my blood pressure because I could feel it in my temples and eyes. But then I went to the scales and realised that I lost almost 5 kilos!! 1 for each of the days that I was doing it. That’s when I realised that it was far less sustainable even than I anticipated knowing it wasn’t anyway. Ate some broccoli, carrots and the rest. After 30 mins finally sweet release! A working weeks worth of delights devoted to vacate the tunnel. Then the itching started again. I planned to reintroduce food groups slowly, elimination diet style to see what food groups were doing it but as I was itching from the get go, I lost hope. I hadn’t a clue what to do.

Fast forward to a year later and I decided to try it again but only for 3 days to see if it worked. Did the days but this time with salt but this time the itchiness never went away. I was perplexed, how could it work before and not now. Stress also plays a factor so was I more stressed now or was it a placebo effect, who knows. The one thing that had happened over the past year was that my ankle kept pulling and I assumed that it was tight from my back I injury from y1 Covid and it traveled down to my angles because it ran out of places to go, end of the line so to speak. The masseuses always said my calls where tight so logical right. Wrong, turns out… gout! Thank you carnivore diet. It wasn’t even that long. I mean don’t get me wrong, I over eat in bulk, and can drink to extreme success e.g. a full pint of vodka as my first drink in a night out and a standing ovation at a all you can eat Brazilian steak house. Granted sometimes I went 6 months without drinking and only around once a month or less. I mean I can’t blame this diet but I certainly think that it pushes me over the edge as I didn’t have any symptoms before I started it. For reference I am athletic build and not overweight in case you ran to concussions because usually when people hear me blind ordering they expect a person multiple times my size.

So where am I now. After I tried all the diets the only one I hadn’t tried which I said I would was the polar opposite which was vegan. So limping along and in incredible pain I decided to try it as it’s seems to align with gout flair up prevention. Tried it for a week and eczema has gone again. There is a huge link apparently to psoriasis and gout so potentially purines in foods especially meats may play a role but at this point I don’t know what to believe as I’m confused but I will try it again soon to see if it actually works. As soon as I went up a notch to vegetarian I got the itches came back. So my new suspicion is dairy and even things with traces in. So that’s where I’m at and I’ll vegan it up again soon.

Summary:
(for those who can’t be bothered reading, I mean I can’t even be arsed to proof this thing)

  1. When trying an elimination diet you can’t do it with your eczema flailed up. That’s why I think I missed fairy because I did try removing it but I think my skin was too far gone and it’s like trying to get rid of a raging fire with a bucket of water rather than prevention.

That summary want as short as I thought sorry 😅

Hope this helps anyone looking for information.
I wish this was here when I first started looking so I’m paying it forward. Good luck all my fellow scaly friends 🦎.

I will update if I find a cure, may not one that fits all but should produce a systematic approach for most of you.
