As the title states, I'm looking to buy a Smart car here in the states. I have come across a 2014 pure at a dealership about 2.5 hrs away from me. They have it priced at $3500 ($4000 after all taxes and fees) but it has a rattle coming from the engine compartment.

The dealer states that it drives fine, but I have a feeling its a prelude to a huge problem. From what I've scraped from the internet I think that the clutch is going out, and it'll cost about $1000 to fix without labor fees.

Is my assumption correct or is it something else?
