2020 VW Crafter 2l diesel. I was driving along at 60mph when a sudden tapping and vibration started followed by a complete loss of power. The vehicle would idle very poorly for a few seconds but show 0rpm, so didn’t start it again to try and avoid any further damage. Removed the timing belt cover and can see damage on the belt but it hasn’t snapped along with loose bearings. I’ve had it recovered to my usual mechanic but it’ll be a week or so before they can look at it.

I’m just really intrigued as to where these bearings could have come from under the timing belt cover? if anyone has experience with these engines.

It’s been maintained well but covered 250k miles so i’m not keeping my hopes up too much! Lol.
