Can I change my court date?
Location: Yuma Arizona I got a DUI about two weeks ago, just had my first court hearing I said I’m not guilty and asked for a court appointed attorney, I don’t have the money to spend on a lawyer I’m already in debt and I don’t think a lawyer would really help me get out of this. Only thing is the court date is kinda in the way of my travel plans. Now I understand that my legal matter is what is most important right now, but I have obligations to be home (Houston,TX). I am in the military and my Staff has also told me that I shouldn’t be worried about leave right now so they don’t really care that my court date is right in the middle of when I want to take leave for home. Just not sure what to do other then email my defender and ask for a continuance or an advancement In hopes of a different date. I do know I need to provide my itinerary in order for it to
be a valid reason also the judge did state I can leave the state. Just asking for advice on this issue thanks
