If you are like me, you tried building bridges over dams, and that didn't work (1st pic). I came up with a design that allowed for that exact thing and thought it might be helpful to share. Maybe this was obvious to some, but i thought it was a brilliant solution.

You just remove the section of dam you are trying to cross and replace it with land using the terrain editor. The land will still block the water because you've elevated it higher up, and you can now build a bridge.
