Need some opinions. Looking for a new bike, currently riding a 2016 TCR Advanced Pro 2 (105 mechanical, CSC carbon wheels). Including pedals it's just under 8 kg. I'm 93 kg myself, athletic build, 187 cm tall, slightly apey with relatively short legs (seat at 78 cm). This is a M/L with a 120 mm stem.

Now that I'm getting older (40+), I feel the bike is slightly too small, and slightly too low in the front for me. So I was thinking to get a size L. With the stock 110mm stem slammed, this would be the exact same position as my TCR with 120mm stem and 2 cm of spacers. So running a few spacers on the size L would give me what I want (will be test riding one in a few days to confirm). Also thinking to go for a Propel, since I usually ride in windy and flat conditions. I do try to visit the mountains a few times a year. I plan on keeping this bike another 10 years, just like my TCR.

Found a good deal on both the Propel Pro 0 AXS and Pro 1 AXS, 2026 model, size L. The Pro 0 is € 1000 more expensive. As far as I can see, the only differences are:

  • Force vs Rival group
  • Carbon Giant SLR bars vs aluminium SL bars
  • CADEX Race GC vs Giant Gavia Course 0 tyres

Supposedly a 900g weight difference too, though if I add the above differences together, this would be more like 430g, so where that extra 500g comes from?

My gut tells me the Pro 0 is not worth it for € 1000 more. Not sure what bike weight to go on, as 900g feels like quite something, but 430g really feels like nothing. What do you reckon?
