I'm working on a MacGyver-inspired video game.
Key context:
Genre-wise, it's not exactly a puzzle game, or a crafting game, or a science game; my goal was to nail the experience of "semi-scientifically winging it". Therefore I think it's imperative to have the name clearly associate with MacGyver.
It's going to be a lighthearted parody. The original material is so cheesy by now that I find it impossible to do seriously. Which is an opportunity, I suppose?
I thought that perhaps it could be MacGruber - because it's somewhat established by the SNL spoof. But apparently there was a parody movie based on the parody character which probably creates a legal quagmire I should perhaps stay away from..?
I was thinking it could be a similar name - Mac[Something], but I havent found a good one, and the ones I tested on people didn't connect with MacGyver. Case in point: there's a video game called McPixel, its thematically very macgyverish, and no one knows its based on MacGyver. So I have doubts about this angle.
I'm all out of ideas, and the ones I have are bad.
Help please :)
