How is structural engineering
I'm a transfer admit for structural with civil focus, and I'm having a hard time deciding between UCSD, UCI and UCD. UCSD seems fantastic with a really great campus and a very built environment focused program which is awesome but I still have some uncertainties
How hard is it to get in touch with professors and get involved in research as an undergrad, particularly for transfers?
The curriculum seems very technically focused and I'm interested in the implications of the engineering work too, is that something that's discussed meaningfully in classes OR would an urban studies & planning minor fit somewhat comfortably in the 3 year transfer plan?
Is study abroad during the school year a viable option considering the various classes required in series?
Are related clubs / student orgs / programs active? Like ewb, scse etc
Are internships and hands-on experiences accessible?
Is the culture "cut-throat", for instance like U*B in general
Is it a male-dominated major?
Answering one or few of these questions would be of great help too, any input or general advice is appreciated
