Anyone used MSP Hire? Crummy recruiting firm.

(Rant on)

I've been in the MSP industry for 15 years, 20 years in IT, high level positions (senior engineer, director, CTO, architect, etc). Recently laid off. Found two job listings with this recruiting firm that perfectly suited me and applied for them both. Within a few hours, I received a call from someone at this firm, sounding overly positive, that I seemed great for both positions and she was going to recommend me for the higher level position first, and if that didn't work out, the lesser one (still a good position), and wanted to setup an interview.

She then stated I would receive a "personality test". But "don't worry, this won't affect anything, it's just so we can 'get to know you'". So, of course I took the ridiculous personality test. No idea why recruiting firms and HR waste their money on this complete garbage. It has literally nothing to do with the job. I hired for almost 10 years at a previous company as I was in a higher level position, and I would never even consider one of these worthless tests, let alone pay for the 3rd party service. But I guess recruiters have to prove their worth somehow. The test includes nonsense such as "What pattern in this series comes next", "Which of these shapes fit into a square", then proceeds to ask silly nonsense questions from "people (AI)" at different positions.

Despite my past experience, stating they would setup an interview, and wanting to recommend me for either position based on my actual job experience, after taking the "personality test", I was completely ghosted. I received a completely generic rejection response. Sent a response trying to get more info, reconsideration due to a clear rejection based on a ridiculous personality test, and of course got ghosted. And look, I’m fine with rejections, happens all the time. But to be rejected after being told I’m a great fit for multiple positions and that this personality test won’t affect anything and is just to get to know you, and being promised an interview… well that’s nothing but disingenuous. Plain and simple. And it’s doing a disservice to the MSPs you’re hiring for.

So... just saying. Beware, "MSP Hire". They may find the perfect candidate for your position then completely reject them based on a test that has literally nothing to do with the position. Or you may apply to a position and get promised an actual interview, then get ghosted based on the nonsense test.

I've worked with multiple well known MSP recruiting firms in the past and have always had good communication and they have been very reasonable. But that was the complete opposite case with this one.
