So. I charge my Apple Watch Ultra (1st gen) every morning while showering and breaking fast and in theory this consistent behaviour should make my AWU turn to optimized charging (since it’s normally at about 30-40% battery when I charge it).
However -this is not the case.
I’ve had it for 3 years, and with a very few exceptions this has been my charging pattern -and I’ve turned the feature on and off and on again several times over the years, paired and unpaired and paired again, with no result. It still charges to 100% every day, if I don’t remember to remove it from the charger.

Recently something’s changed: I’ve seen the optimized charge ring twice in the past 2 weeks, along with the notice that I can just touch the watch to charge it fully. Great, I think, I’ll just let it do its magic by itself.

BUT! Even though I leave it alone in a dark bedroom and no one enters or touches it, IT STILL CHARGES TO 100%!!!
Why, oh why can I not get a daily 80% charge?

(And why on earth is it not possible to set a charging limit in the settings, like it is on my iPhone 16???)

Any suggestions?
