Anybody else have extremely elaborate fictional worlds that exist entirely in their daydreams?
So literally as long as I can remember, my brain just sort of... writes stories on its own. I'd call it mal-adaptive daydreaming but its never harmed my life so I don't know if "mal" is correct here, but whenever I'm bored or otherwise my imagination isn't pre-occupied its always working on that central story/set of characters. Every so often I'll get bored by the current story and switch things up, but its had fairly similar core themes for like 15 years now.
The few people I've been brave enough to tell about these daydreams always tell me to write it down but, I don't know but I find actually writing things down to be a torturous endeavor in analysis paralysis. I don't know where to start, the glossary a setting document a short story developing the magic system yada yada yada. So I just end up writing 2 sentences then fucking off. Its especially frustrating because the daydreaming doesn't stop when I'm writing, so I'll get distracted writing the story to think about... a different part of the story.
Anybody else experience something similar? Any tips?
