Anybody else have extremely elaborate fictional worlds that exist entirely in their daydreams?

So literally as long as I can remember, my brain just sort of... writes stories on its own. I'd call it mal-adaptive daydreaming but its never harmed my life so I don't know if "mal" is correct here, but whenever I'm bored or otherwise my imagination isn't pre-occupied its always working on that central story/set of characters. Every so often I'll get bored by the current story and switch things up, but its had fairly similar core themes for like 15 years now.

The few people I've been brave enough to tell about these daydreams always tell me to write it down but, I don't know but I find actually writing things down to be a torturous endeavor in analysis paralysis. I don't know where to start, the glossary a setting document a short story developing the magic system yada yada yada. So I just end up writing 2 sentences then fucking off. Its especially frustrating because the daydreaming doesn't stop when I'm writing, so I'll get distracted writing the story to think about... a different part of the story.

Anybody else experience something similar? Any tips?

1999 baby here, just had my 27th birthday and Its got me reflecting on the state of things. My entire life and especially the past few years have been dominated by one crisis stacking atop another, just as a list we have:

  • Climate change

  • AI

  • The death of the american dream

  • Affordability Crisis

  • Lingering effects of COVID and the understanding that another plague could happen at literally any moment

What the fuck is the point of anything if we are staring down the barrel of like 5 seperate apocalypses that, if anything, the people in power are actively accelerating. If you bring any of this up in public then you are the asshole, so everybody seems content to just sit and post about it online while everything falls to shit.

I want to be empathetic and care about other people but jesus fucking christ if humanity hasn't done everything in its collective power to prove itself unworthy of that empathy. Even the people who aren't actively making things worse don't seem to care enough to do anything so are they really any different. Motherfuckers are out here talking about how they care about the environment while stuffing their faces with steak and lamb and all the other meat that is killing our planet. Everybody is performative, everybody is fake, nobody really gives a shit about anything because they are ALWAYS more concerned with their own little lives than the big picture. Seriously, you the guy reading this post, do you claim to care about climate change? Are you a vegetarian? If you said yes to the first but not to the second, then you don't really care about climate change. Like I'm sorry but that is the single biggest thing any person can do to easily cut down their impact on the climate and asking somebody to go vegetarian is like asking them to eat their pet dog.

And do you know what the worst part of all of that is? IT DOESNT EVEN MATTER IF YOU GO VEGAN SO WHO CARES!!!!

Seriously you, me, everybody who has ever browsed this subreddit could all go militant vegan for the rest of our lives and it wouldn't do anything because our collective society has decided to not give a shit. Same with AI, or the affordability crisis, or ANYTHING. Might as well do whatever the fuck you want because your decisions have no impact either way. So we all just sit around, dicks firmly in hand, while everything falls apart because we can all recognize that humanity lacks the ability to control itself long enough to fix anything. Why engage in charity, why give any fraction of your time or effort, when you know that effort will be spent on yet another useless fuckup human.
