I’ve got a 2002 Special Edition Miata with the original leather seats, and they’re starting to show a lot of cracking and wear (especially on the bolsters and seat bottoms).

I’m trying to figure out the best route here.

do I need to fully reupholster/replace the seat covers, or is this something that can realistically be repaired/restored (like filling cracks and re-dyeing)?

For anyone who’s dealt with this:

At what point is leather too far gone to repair?

Is DIY leather repair worth it, or should I go straight to a professional?

Rough cost difference between repair vs full reupholstery?

Any advice or experiences would be really helpful before I decide what direction to go. Thanks
