So, we recently found out we have iron deficient anemia, and it's, like, really bad, and we've been having symptoms since early childhood. Now, anemia affects brain function, memory, and mental health quite heavily. We know we're a system, and we thought maybe we had DID, but now we're wondering how many of our dissociative symptoms are actually caused by anemia.

I will say, it's been gradually getting more and more difficult to tell who's in front and communicate internally as our levels have gotten very dangerously low. We're hoping treatment will improve that problem. But now we're wondering if we should wait to be assessed for DID.

Any other systems with iron deficient anemia have any experience with this? Did treatment improve dissociative symptoms?

Feeling very overwhelmed. Seems like most of the things that are low point to anemia, probably iron deficient anemia.

Idk what all stats are needed to be useful, but iron sat was at 3.89% and ferritin was at 5ng/L.

We've been on iron supplements for about 3~4 days to mild improvements (no more passing out constantly, coherent speech, can walk around for longer than 10 minutes at a time). We've also been taking over the counter B12 and vit D daily, B12 for about a week and D for a couple years inconsistently, I think.

After researching the symptoms, we've been having symptoms since some time in elementary school, and they've just been gradually getting worse over the years. Currently in mid 20s. Female (nonbinary/genderfluid, no physical transitioning as of yet, though would like a couple surgeries in the future).

Going back to the doctor in a couple days. Would like some advice on what to discuss with the doctor.
