I've noticed that there's any acronyms in use among this sub (substantial user base), and I just thought I'd throw together a handy little guide in case anyone's confused by them.

MC The main character. The protagonist.

FMC Focus Male Character- the lead male in a story, generally the love interest.

MMC Main Mommy Character- whichever character is giving the most Mommy energy. Not necessarily the protagonist, who is often a smol helpless bean.

RCJ Red Chili-Jalapeno. What many consider to be the perfect range of spice levels for a fantasy romance.

FL Friendlady, a galpal with whom the MC can pal around, like gals do. Commonly found in sapphic romantasy.

ML Madlady- the other girl whom the MC is not like, and who is gonna cause a ruckus about it.

HR Harem Reverso- a story where one female protagonist ends up collecting an assortment of FMCs and/or FLs.

RH Romance Historique, a story set in a real historical period, preferably French.

NLOG No Liking Our Girls- describes a tendency of FMCs to become jealous and protective of their paramours and react badly to anyone else showing them attention.

UJ Uber-jerking- used by sloopies to distinguish when a post or comment is especially egregiously sarcastic or goofy and definitely should not be taken seriously. Often paired with RJ

RJ Retracting Jerkitude- used by sloopies to distinguish when a post or comment is sincere and should be taken at face value.

ACOTAR A Couple of Things, AlRight? Used by sloopies who are about to lay down some serious wisdom.

Hopefully this helps!

SJM Sarah Jessicah Mparker, an actress.

FW Fifth Wing, a romantasy about a griffon riding academy.
