So basically exactly what the headline says. I feel that it’s pretty often i try to make a light hearted joke and he scoffs at me and shuts me down. This morning he was attaching a trailer to his car to go mow the neighbors lawn, he got in the hole and walked the trailer towards his car so i jokingly said something like “looks like you don’t even need the car, you’re doing great like that you might as well walk there” and his response was to scoff and say “why would i do that.” This interaction itself isn’t a huge deal, but i told him that as a whole it can be hurtful that he never goes along with my jokes and it always feels like he’s trying to shut me down, he claims he thought it was funny but “what else am i supposed to say?” I think maybe he just takes things very literally and i am a very light hearted jokey person. I love him but it hurts my feelings and kind of just sucks that i feel like he rolls his eyes at me when i joke with him. Basically I need advice on how to communicate with him in the future to help him understand the way i’m feeling, when i tell him this hurts my feelings i don’t think he takes it seriously, he kind of laughs and says it’s a little miscommunication. any thoughts?
