I’m a 15 year old, and I want to get a pet.

My parents first of all obviously don’t want to pay for crazy vet bills, and they would be okay with me getting a pet as long as a vet visit wouldn’t cost hundreds of dollars. I’m in a difficult time of my life right now, and being near animals (petting them, talking to them, cuddling, etc) genuinely makes me forget about my pain.

I was looking into guinea pigs but I heard that vet bills can get really pricey. I saw hamsters as well but they only live 3 years max. I’m planning to move to the USA (I live in Canada) for university, and taking my pets with me and registering them as emotional support animals. So I need a pet that will live long enough to be with me until then.

I also just want a pet that I can pet, and they won’t be too uncomfortable with. I just think that I would benefit from having an animal emotionally, and I can 100% be responsible to give them proper care.

So…what animal should I get? Thinking of adopting.

I just got these two budgies 3 days ago and the one on the left has been sitting down low for a few minutes. Is my budgie okay? They also woke up a bit early today but I don’t know if thats a concern.
