I was working as a stocker at a restaurant for about 8 months until I recently switched to bussing.

As a stocker I was with the dishwashers mainly (but still front of house) so I wasn’t able to easily talk to people. Ofc it doesn’t help that I am a bit introverted. BUT I WANNA MAKE FRIENDS. I never made any work friends.

Now that I’m bussing and out on the floor with other bussers, servers, etc, I should have an easier time making friends. I’m trying to talk to my fellow bussers and other ppl my age(17M), but it’s rly only small talk. They’ll interact with me if I initiate but like I said it kinda just small talk. But the second another busser comes they’re laughing and having a way better convo than me. They’ll buss tables together and talk while doing it, but never with me. Mostly no one tries to talk with me. Some of the servers do, but not the other bussers for the most part.

I’m trying to connect with them but I just can’t. Idk if it’s my social skills, how I project myself, or they already see me as the quiet guy from when I was stocking and didn’t really talk to anyone. I know my social skills aren’t the best but I feel like they should be good enough. I try to start convos by asking questions related to work or about something I noticed about the person. I am 5’5, idk if that changes anything.

I need help on what I’m doing wrong and how to become friends with them.

Alr guys I did something late again. I scheduled my orientation for July 20-21. Will I get crappy classes/class times?
