Engagement bait crap posts everywhere

I absolutely despise how much of all my social media feeds are just engagement bait. "What's something you find surprising?" type crap where a bunch of people share the most trivial and mundane crap there is. There's nothing new or interesting being shared, just comfortable and familiar garbage. The other type is "look at this thing we all hate". I wish there was a setting to turn these off so that I might get to see original content where people share their passions or God forbid I might learn something. [End of rant]

Hypothetical Earth Shape

Let me start by saying I'm not a flat earther. But wouldn't it be wild to think about an earth that is a long cylinder with a spotlight that has a really weird dark spot that changes shape throughout the year. Since the edges of the cylinder never get hit by the sun, they would be unbelievably cold. If you stepped off the side of the cylinder you would fall mostly downward but would eventually pull you towards the cylinder. The cylinder would be made of a material of the right density to produce 9.81m/s^2 at the north pole. Is there anything else that would be bizarre about this world?

What is the point of this phrase that is found almost exclusively at the beginning of emails? If I'm not doing well, should I reply that today is actually the worst day of my life?
