What kind of stich do I need to take in the waist of this dress without it looking a mess?

Picture 1 shows how the dress sits naturally

I would like to bring in the fabric around my waist area to be more form fitting (photo 2). There’s a lot of excess fabric around the waist which i’ve tried to show in pics 3/4.

I’m not too sure how to describe what I’m envisioning but i’d like the skirt part of my dress to start more near my hips not my chest - I hope this makes a tiny bit of sense 😅

Does anyone have a tutorials or previous projects that were similar that may help me do this? This is my first alteration attempt

(I only made the fish so I hope this post is okay here - If not i’m happy to take it down)

Hi all! I’ve been seeing lots of videos recently of people making pottery on social media recently and I think It looks super fun.

My only issue is I can’t convince any of my friends to come with me to a beginners pottery class. The sessions at my local studio are pretty small (10 people). Would I look weird if I went alone? What’s the general etiquette in a shared studio do people usually keep to themselves or is it very social?

Update - thankyou everyone for the reassurance! I’ve booked a taster session for in two weeks time i’m super excited!
