I have a 2024 Meridian Edition Turbo. Since purchased, I have been using premium fuel for better mileage and performance based on my online research I did. Vehicle menu say you can use both 87 or higher octane but higher is recommended.

I love how smooth the turbo is, but with gas prices going up, premium fuel is getting too expensive.

Q: Is anyone else putting 87 octane in their Turbo model? How's the mileage and performance? Do you hear a louder knocking sound when you start the car or when it's idling?

Q: I heard that these Skyactiv engines have a higher compression ratio, which can cause carbon buildup, and that premium gas helps prevent that. Is there any truth to that?
